SC takes suo moto notice of Malik Raiz news conference

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has take suo moto notice of Malik Raiz’s news conference which was held by the business tycoon on Tuesday. A three member bench headed by Justice Shakirullah Jan has been formed and will hear the suo moto case today (Wednesday). Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Tariq Pervez are the other two members of the bench. Earlier the Supreme Court Registrar was directed to summon the record of the news conference. Malik Riaz had held a fiery news conference pertaining to the Arsalan Iftikhar case. It was during this news conference that Riaz had asked the Chief Justice to reveal details of meetings and also how long he (Chief Justice)had known about Arsalan Iftikhar’s alleged dealings. Riaz had said that he was not scared of being called for contempt or sent to prison. Meanwhile speaking to the media earlier, Riaz’s counsel Zahid Bukhari distanced himself from the news conference stating that this was Malik Riaz’s personnel complains. A contempt of court petition filed by Advocate Ashraf Gujjar in regards to Malik Riaz’s news conference is also being heard by a three member bench.
