KARACHI: Unknown gunmen, most probably the henchmen of extortionists, Thursday opened fire and left two auto-parts dealers seriously injured in the heart of Karachi, Geo News reported.
Sources told Geo News that armed men entered Japan Plaza, an auto parts market, situated next to Tibet Plaza on MA Jinnah Road and opened fire at a shop, which rendered two men behind the counter critically injured.
The injured auto-parts dealers were shifted to Civil Hospital, where, according to hospital sources, given the condition of the injured the doctors were not very hopeful about their survival.
Following the incident the traders form both Tibet and Japan Plaza downed their shutters and blocked MA Jinnah Road protesting against the act of violence.
Chanting slogans they demanded of the government to serve immediate justice and provide security for the businessmen at large as extortionists have been on the rampage for a while especially in the auto-parts market.
Angry traders said that abductions and killings of businessmen at the hands of the extortionists had increased manifold and the government seems to be helpless against the criminal elements.
